Margy, Points well taken. I doubt people will sell their homes, though! Also liked Anthony's comment. Oh, yes, and people of color are moving into the neighborhood, so sell your home and move to the suburbs (a comment on why the 19th Ward Communi...

LOL!!! Hey ya know the truth is when we start moving into neighborhoods the real estate values go up! It think it's all the pretty colors and flowers and stuff LOL!

Mark, I'll join to support your efforts, but please don't assume that people who don't join are apathetic. Whether we like it or not, it can still be very dangerous for gay and lesbian people to come out. I'm not sure whether Marlborough has any d...

Don't despair Mark, sometimes these things take time. I admit, I'm a bit surprised as well. I know there are quite a number of us on our street as well - but they are very quiet. In this day and age I wonder why some might be so reticent to be out.

I know there are a number of people who could join this group, and am disappointed in the turnout ... so maybe I think it is not important to neighbors in the 19th Ward. If that is the case, keep silent and we will remove this site. Otherwise ther...

Shooting on Thurston by Enterprise

I tried using Twitter but can't seem to figure out how to post. I called in to 911 about 12:45
AM with six shots fired, near the corner of Thurston and Enterprise. Across or by the bars on Thurston, I believe. Cops are still there. My street is blocked off with tape. Not a good sign.

Robbery at 80 Enterprise

I had a door bell ring from the police last night at 4 AM, as the new neighbors across the street had been robbed. I was still on my computer. I had not seen anything, but when I went out, the street was full of police. They said there was a robbery as the people walked from their car in the driveway to the front door. The robbers came from Thurston Rd.

Front Yard Gardens

Great Idea! Shawn, drove by your street the other day, And thought we should all plant front yard gardens. Why have lawn when you can have flowers? Good source is Michael Warren Thomas on Trafalgar St., whose whole front yard is NOT GRASS. Take advantage of what little space we have to garden!

I have been putting in grasses, like blue fescue, wheatgrass, and another, Carl F.If anyone wants suggestions, a great catalog is http://www.highcountrygardens.com/

Hope to see you at Square Fair!

Martuciellos Bread

For anyone who shops at Wegmans on Lyell Avenue, do stop in across the street at Martuciellos. They have great bread, wonderful pastries, excellent pizzas, including many vegetarian, and calzones. This is a true old-time Italian shop that you must try. They also have a grill for eating in, and their hamburgers on the round roll are out of this world! You must try, and you will never visit McD's again! I know this isn't in the Ward, but if you venture that way, it is truly a wonderful place.

PAC TAC

Tony and anyone else who has never walked PACTAC ---- give it a try and walk with some of your neighbors. Saturation is a night when a group comes together with a Crime Prevention Officer and all walk together. Meet at the NSC on Genesee .

Hi Mark. Chi Phi has been involved with PAC TAC in the past and we are looking forward to getting back into it now that the semester has started up. I was going to try to get some guys to the saturation walk on the 6th, hope to see you there.

Just reading some of the messages on the site. Would like to talk to others about gardening. Just requested a tree from the city to put out front of my home. Attended an interesting talk at RoCo about urban gardening.

Thanks for being willing to come out. Unfortunately we recently discovered a plumbing problem and my front yard is going to be dug up for a while so I'll have to hold off on planting. :-(

Thanks, Mark! Don't worry about not introducing me... it was a long day for me too, although nowhere near as long as your 4AM-er! ;)

Hello there, Mark! Thanks for the warm welcome. I actually love living on Roxborough. I'll see you at the BBQ/grill-fest, but I might bring some burgers. ;)
