I am getting caught up on some earlier posts re gentrification and development, and thank all for their varied perspectives and concerns. Very informative.
I left the South Wedge for the 19thW partially because of gentrification; and it is a conc...
That sounds great Mark, I look forward to the house plants session and your feedback on the mulch/compost. Those steamed clams sound good too! MacClurg
That surprises me. I have always had the impression that U/R sets goals for community engagement, and then fades away. More talk than action. I think they may do better with community engagement vis a vis their medical programs; their campus is pr...
Maybe this group would help us locate a lawyer, I know they are essentially set up to help low income people...but maybe if the RIGHT person asked....?
Volunteer Legal Services Project (VLSP) Some lawyers vol their time.
Thank you Adam for the report, for those of us who cannot attend it is most helpful.
I completely understand people's frustration, the problems in our SW community are considerable and dangerous. I salute every effort everyone of you have made. T...
I am in the middle of a big proposal for a nonprofit and need to make this brief, but will have more thoughts later.

HI I didn't know you lived in the 19th ward. How have you been doing? I have not done too much at the JCC, are you still ushering? I am house managing a few shows.
Her name is Kristin and maybe you had a typo. But I doubt she will have any problem with it, as it is all a matter of public record. Thank you very much, we would all like to be able to see what people have discussed or mentioned at these meetings. You could also post on the 19th Ward Yahoo group.
With the posting on gang activity (news from our RPD CPO,) there have been positive responses as well as a request for a summary from PCIC meetings. Obviously all can't make these meetings due to conflicts, but there is interest. Would it be possible for you to post a summary on this blog? Everyone would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mark

Tell us about yourself:
I am a Rochesterian by birth and spent 2/3 of my life here and love it. I have mostly lived in the city by choice, and always as a renter. I bought my first house! last fall and moved here from the southwedge in Dec. 08. I have been involved in community related activities for over 25 years and look forward to continuing that in the 19thW. In the wedge, I organized my n'hood org called the Hickory Nuts, with a handful of neighbors and was its first President. Till recently, I was an active member of the Civilian Review Board (police-community complaints) for 20 years. I am a freelance grantwriter, which is how I make my living. It is work that I love, as I get to learn about and work with all kinds of nonprofits and people passionate about their missions. I am the new secretary of the SW PCIC, a position I held for 10 or so years with the Highland East Side PCIC. I look forward to meeting many of the residents in the 19th W and learning about the resources of the 19thW (restaurants, handymen, best stores to shop, etc.) and would appreciate hearing about such opportunities.
